STABILIZED COMPOSITION CONTAINING EICOSAPENTAENOIC ACID OR ESTER THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject stabilized composition capable of suppressing formation of peroxides having toxic action on living bodies by blending the subject compound effective in treating and preventing thrombosis or inflammatory dermatopathy with a specific 2-hydroxy-benzophenone derivative. CONSTITUTION:The subject composition, obtained by adding a compound expressed by the formula (X1 is OH or 1-12C alkoxy; X2 is H or OH; X3 is H, OH or 1-12C alkoxy) well known as an ultraviolet ray absorber in an amount of 0.5-10wt.% to eicosapentaenoic acid or an ester threrof and capable of suppressing formation of peroxides even under irradiation thereof not only with ultraviolet rays but also with visible rays containing no ultraviolet rays and powerfully suppressing growth of the peroxides for a long period by preferably further using one or more antioxidants selected from tocopherol, dibutylhydroxytoluene and butylhydroxyanisole in combination due to sustained effects of the compound expressed by the formula with hardly any decomposition thereof itself.
