PURPOSE:To automatically manufacture a preformed product out of bulked thermosetting resin molding compound(BMC) obviating manual crushing by a method wherein the thermosetting resin molding compound, which is delivered from a kneader, is fed in an extruding vessel so as to apply the predetermined pressure in the longitudinal direction of the vessel in order to extrude the compound from the other end of the vessel and finally the resultant compression molded body is cut in lengths. CONSTITUTION:Bulked BMC 10, which is prepared by kneading filler-mixed paste-like thermosetting resin with reinforcing fibers by means of a kneader, is received in the hopper 4 of a preformed product manufacturing apparatus. By releasing the top wall 13 of the main body 10 of an expanding cylinder 1, the BMC 10 in the hopper 4 is fed in the cylinder 1. And, immediately after that, the top wall 13 is closed. The BMC 10' the main body 10 of the cylinder 1 is continuously pressed by the predetermined pressure with an extruding piston 2 toward the front end 12 of the main body 10 of the cylinder 1, resulting in being continuously extruded through the opening of an extruding die 3, which is provided at the front end 12 and has a circular cross section. The resultant extruded body 11 is cut in the vertical plane X-Y so as to be turned into performed products having the predetermined length. |
