This modifier has a potential application in the electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry for analytical determination of volatile components. It stabilizes the volatile components to a higher temperature of pre-atomisation treatment, does not require an advance separation of the matrix by extraction and re-extraction, does not contaminate the electrothermal atomizer with frequently determinable components, can be obtained using simplified methods, does not contain valuable and toxic components, does not have high values for the non-selective absorption and the blank sample and allows operating in an acid medium, in which the hydrolysis of some volatile components is prepared. The modifier represents an aqueous solution of tungsten and palladium /II/ compounds at a molar ratio of 10:1 to 1:1. The tungsten compound is tungsten /IV/ oxide dissolved in ammonia, or a peroxide complex of tungsten /V/ with a tungsten content of 0.05-0.3 % (m/m). The palladium /II/ compound is PdCl2, Pd(NO3)2 or a 0.02-0.2 % (m/m) mixture of both palladium /II/ compounds in the solution.
