The method is applicable in the textile industry. It ensures a high degree of degreasing (residual grease under 1%), and an increased degree of elimination of cocoon content (under 3%). Under this method, silk wastes with oily content 10-20% and cocoon content of 15-40% are subjected to degreasing with perchloroethylene at a bath ratio of 1:10 to 1:15 in relation to the weight of silk waste (1 kg of waste is treated with 10-15 litres of perchloroethylene) during 25-35 min at room temperature. This is followed by a stage of drying at 60 degrees C, preliminary boiling at a bath ratio of 1:80 (temperature 98 degrees C) for duration of 1 hour. The bath contains 0.875 g per litre of sodium carbonate, 0.140 g per litre of soap, and 2.0 g per litre of hydrogen peroxide. The actual boiling is then conducted and combined under the conditions given above by a discoloration of silk waste. Rinsing with cold water follows in the end, centrifuging 5 to 10 min, and a steady drying state at 50-60 degrees C with duration of 10-12 hours.
