The sewing machine, esp. with an electric drive motor (15) and a hand-wheel (16) to control the needle position, with a freewheeling clutch and a bobbin winder. The bobbin winder is made to fit onto the spindle of the handwheel (16), which is connected to the motor shaft through a second freewheeling clutch. Both freewheeling clutches are unidirectional and are fitted so that one of them is engaged while the other is released, and vice versa. The motor is reversible, e.g. by reversing the polarity of its power supply, while the bobbins are being wound. ADVANTAGE - Design simplicity and low cost, reducing risks of injury during bobbin winding.
