A fixing device for small instruments to be fitted flush, in particular meters to be fitted flush in instrument plates, used in combination with notched channels formed on two sides in the flush-fitting housing, includes, according to the invention, a retaining chassis (4) capable of sliding on the flush-fitting housing (1) and having, on two sides, stop arms (5) capable of tilting with elastic recall and which, on being raised elastically, each slip during the sliding on the corresponding notched channel (6) of the flush-fitting housing put in place through an aperture (2) of the mechanism plate and, when they are released, retain the flush-fitting housing, so that it can be unclamped, in contact with the retaining chassis placed against the mechanism plate (3). <IMAGE>
