PURPOSE:To prevent the damage and deterioration of vegetables and fruits due to the shock in transit, shaking of vegetables and fruits themselves, etc., by forming cushioning material to be packed into an outer packaging container into a gas mat having a cushion through providing a gas filling part and an accommodating recess part for housing vegetables and fruits by means of a flexible sheet so that the accommodating recess part houses vegetables and fruits stably. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 for housing is formed by, e.g. corrugated fiberboard, styrofoam, plastic container, etc. As an intermediate material having cushioning properties, a gas mat 5 formed of a flexible sheet is packed into the container 1 and the gas mat 5 is provided with a gas filling part 7 and an accommodating recess part 6 for housing vegetables and fruits 4. The gas filling part 7 is filled with gas to a pressure a little lower than atmospheric pressure in a state where the sheet is somewhat loose. Therefore, when vegetables and fruits 4 enter the accommodating recess part 6, the sheet extends and stretches and the side faces of vegetables and fruits 4 are subjected to a uniform contact biasing force. A shock from the outside directed in one direction is dispersed and transmitted by a filled gas in many directions. The shock is then buffered by a wide working face and transmitted to the side faces of vegetables and fruits 4 via the side wall part 9 of the accommodating recess part 6. |
