Electromagnetic disc brake for an elevator

The disc brake comprises a disc 15 spline-coupled with a rotational shaft 10S; a braking body 12 and an armature 18 disposed to clamp the disc against the body; braking springs 32 for pressing the armature against the disc; an iron core 24 which includes inner 25 and outer 26 magnetic poles each facing the armature and concentrically formed with respect to the rotational shaft; and an electromagnetic coil 30 which generates magnetic flux to pass through the inner and outer magnetic poles. The gap g0 between the inner pole 25 and the facing portion of the armature may be adjusted by means of nuts 31 on guide pins 17. The braking springs are disposed in portions of the outer magnetic pole. Further, the braking body may be supported through a sound absorbing member or one side of the armature facing the disc may be formed of a sound absorbing member.
