PURPOSE:To perform the highly reliable displacement measurement, by generating pulses indicating the leading edge and trailing edge of each rectangular wave signal by a digital circuit, thereby reducing the effect of temperature change. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary shaft 1 is rotated, sine wave shaped detected signals are outputted from photoelectric transducer elements 5A and 5B. Said detected signals are amplified by amplifiers 6A and 6B, and converted into the angular wave signals by Schmitt circuits 7A and 7B. An edge detector 8 receives said rectangular wave signals, further receives a clock pulse having a frequency higher than that of each rectangular wave signal, which is supplied from a clock pulse generator 9, then outputs the pulse whose leading edge and trailing edge are equal to those of each rectangular wave signal. |
