<p>PURPOSE:To attain coding with a desired system without making the constitution large by encoding an AC component of a quantization coefficient resulting from quantizing a conversion coefficient relating to picture element gradation through a coding control means in response to the selected coding system. CONSTITUTION:When the linear conversion system is selected by a coding system selection means 100, a coding control means 130 passes an index of inputted AC component through a group table 6 of a coding table means 120, an index conversion section 8 of a coefficient conversion means 110 sets all zero, a run conversion section 7 inputs the result to a coding table 9 of the means 120 together with a run subjected to all zero and the coded run and index are outputted alternately from the table. When the 2-dimension or the 2-dimension grouping conversion system is selected, the similar coding is applied, and it is not required to provide other conversion circuit constitution than each conversion system and the circuit constitution is not increased and coding is applied by the desired system.</p> |
