PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of black spots and shaded parts having no brightness by integrally forming the front surface layers of an optical fiber panel and a sensor and the fibers connected to this front surface. CONSTITUTION: A plate material 1 which has plural introducing holes 3 opened on its front and rear surfaces and formed perpendicular to the front and rear surfaces and has heat resistance is positioned nearly perpendicularly. A thermally softenable material which is the same material as the material of the optical fibers is melted by heating atop this plate material 1. The material melted by heating is extended downward from the introducing holes 3 by its own gravity. The heating of the material is stopped when the thickness of the material on the plate material attains a prescribed thickness. Next, the fibers extending downward of the introducing holes 3 are stretched under their softening temp. to a prescribed length and the surfaces of the fibers are coated with a coating material. The free ends of the fibers are assembled and light releasing surfaces for transmitting the information of light are formed at these ends. The front surface of the panel or sensor is constituted integrally with the fibers in such a manner and, therefore, the diffusion angle of the light is increased. |
