PURPOSE: To allow a printer to accept one of each kind of data stream by providing a specific initializing procedure. CONSTITUTION: Temporary or permanent update can be attained by using an application so that the states of omission time interpretation stored in an NVRAM 12 according to the lapse of time can not be the same as the states of the omission time interpretation set by a factory stored in a memory 15. This update is attained through an initializing procedure operated by a set initial states(SIC) command. This SIC command selectively deletes down-loaded fonts or micros. Moreover, the SIC command is a medium enabling the change of one data stream to the other data stream, that is, the change of the emulation mode of a printer. Thus, a print job can be received, and those jobs can be processed from each kind of data stream.
