PURPOSE:To obtain the subject inhibitor, containing birch tree tar (reetifield oil or birch tar oil) as an active ingredient, having testosterone 5alpha-reductase inhibitory action, capable of inhibiting common acne and sebum secretory ability and effectively used in prescriptions, etc., for medicines and cosmetics useful for seborrheic alopecia, eczema, etc. CONSTITUTION:A testosterone 5alpha-reductase inhibitor containing birch tree tar (Reetifield oil or Birch Tar Oil) obtained from a tree of the family Betulaceae, Betula platyphylla Sekatchev var. japonica, Betula ermani Cham. or Betula globispica Shirai by a dry distillation method as an active ingredient. In use, the inhibitor is employed by blending thereof in a dosage form, e.g. embrocation to common acne, seborrheic dermatopathy or alopecia for external use, or oral administration, etc. |
