PURPOSE:To considerably compress measured data by obtaining the deviation between preceding and succeeding measured data out of continuous measured data and substituting this deviation with original measured data by a number expressed with the number of digits corresponding to its magnitude. CONSTITUTION:Measured data of a measuring instrument 1 is given to a process computer 3, which controls a steel material rolling mill, through a sapling device 2 and is compressed in a data compressing part 31, and compressed data is transferred to a business computer 4, where data of a steel material is preserved, through a communication line 5. In the compression method, the deviation between measured data and just preceding measured data is obtained and is substituted with original measured data by the number expressed with the number of digits corresponding to its magnitude. Thus, measured data is effectively expressed with the number of digits, and the compression effect of measured data is improved. |
