PURPOSE:To continuously graphitize carbon powder by charging carbon powder into a mold from its top and heating the powder through the mold to graphitize the powder in the course of descending in the mold. CONSTITUTION:Carbon powder C used as a raw material is filled in a passing channel 19, a cooling chamber 11 and a discharge hopper 12. A mold 15 is heated with a heater 5, the carbon powder C supplied through a feed pipe 8 to a charging hopper 7 is continuously transferred to the mold 15 and a prescribed amount of carbon powder C is charged into a charging chamber 6 from the charging hopper 7 by intermittently pressing down a valve 9. At the same time, powder filled in the discharge hopper 12 is removed by a screw feeder 14. The carbon powder C is transferred from the charging chamber 6 into the passing channel 10 according to the above process and is slowly moved down by its own weight. The descending carbon powder C is preheated with the mold 15 during the passage through the preheating chamber 2 and heated to a temperature sufficiently high to effect the graphitization in the course of passing through the heating chamber 3. Graphite powder B is produced by the graphitization action. |
