PURPOSE:To make printing stable and enable high-speed printing by using a part where the slit of the first slit plate crosses that of the second slit plate as a discharge orifice and supplying ink to the discharge orifice from both ends of the slit of the second slit plate. CONSTITUTION:Ink is supplied to ink reservoirs 7, 7' from ink feed holes 8, 8' so that these reserviors are filled to the capacity. Furthermore, the ink is allowed to flow into a vertical slit 5 from a part on both sides where the ink reserviors 7, 7' are placed over the vertical slit 5 and then is allowed to flow into the lateral slit 4 through the crossing part to the full capacity of the slit 4. Next, if an electric current is applied to a heating element from an electrode 11, the ink which comes in contact with the heating element is thermally evapo rated to form vapor bubbles. At the same time, the ink is instantaneously squeezed out of the crossing part to form splashed ink droplets. These ink droplets are applied to recording paper for printing. After the ink droplets are discharged, the heating element cools off and the vapor bubbles contract and disappear. Then the amount of ink equal to that of ink discharged to the crossing part is allowed to flow in through the vertical slit to restore the state. |
