PURPOSE:To sharply improve LSD performance and to reduce the weight of the whole of an LSD by a method wherein the friction surface of at least the one of first and second friction plates is formed by using carbon fiber-reinforced resin in which carbon fiberes are contained in a mix ratio of 30 - 70 capacity%. CONSTITUTION:Thrust washers 9 mounted on the differential case side and a clutch disc 10 rotatably supported to drive axles 7 and 8 in a state to be held between a nip formed by the thrust washeres are provided between a differential case 1 and side gears 5 and 6. By sliding the thrust washers 9 and the clutch discs 10, a difference in the number of revolutions between the differential case 1 and the side gears 5 and 6 is controlled. A friction disc, formed such that the surface of a plate made of a steel is lined with carbon fiber- reinforced resin having a carbon mix ratio of 30 - 70 capacity% and a base material being epoxy resin is manufactured as the thrust washer 9 used for a multidisc type LSD.
