PURPOSE:To easily write in and read out information as a gradation signal and to enable rewriting by using a thin film consisting of bacteriorhodopsin and a specified compd. CONSTITUTION:A soln. contg. bacteriorhodopsin and a compd. represented by formula I is cast on a substrate and dried to produce an optical recording material. In the formula I, R is (substd.) alkyl, (substd.) phenyl, etc. A compd. having arginine represented by formula II as R in the formula I may be used as the compd. represented by the formula I. When the thin film of the optical recording material is irradiated with laser light (green light), information can be recorded. By irradiation with light having 380-450nm wavelength, the recorded information can be read. By irradiation with laser light (green light), the information can be vanished. Gradation recording of information can be performed by controlling the illuminance of laser light or irradiation time. |
