PURPOSE:To check beta-alumina solid electrolyte with good efficiency which is highly correlated to the life of a battery cell by measuring the change of absorption or reflectance of a light of a specific wavelength generated through irradiation of an X ray. CONSTITUTION:An incoming X ray 2 is projected to a sample 3 from an X ray generating part 1. A reflecting light 6 of an incident light 5 projected from a light source 4 to the sample 3 is detected before and after the irradiation of the X ray by a photodetector 7 to measure the change of the absorption or reflectance. For example, the X ray 2 is projected to the sample 3 of beta-alumina solid electrolyte and, light beams are projected to the beta-alumina solid electrolyte before and after the irradiation of the X ray to detect the reflecting light 6 from the electrolyte by the photodetector 7. In other words, it becomes possible to check the oxygen deficiency concentration by measuring the change of the absorption or reflectance of the light having 200-1,000nm wavelength obtained through irradiation of the X ray. Accordingly, the beta-alumina solid electrolyte which is highly correlated to the life of a battery with good efficiency can be checked. |
