A system for simulating a programme set by one or more cams comprises a pulse generator 30 producing plural frequency square pulses by means of a driven disc having equidistant holes in concentric circles admitting light to a number of photocells, which pulses are selected by gates 46 in a pre-arranged successive pattern to give a rise, fall or constant condition, which is passed to a directing unit 44 controlling a stepping motor 38 coupled to a controlled element 39. Each channel 36 includes a multiposition selector switch 52. The pulse frequencies may be varied synchronously and proportionally by drive motor speed adjustment which is retroactively controlled. The timing period is set by binary counters 54, 56, tapped to one of the pulse outputs 32, which period is subdivided by count selectors 64, 66 and gated by a coincidence circuit 68 which control the gates 46. The element 39 may be driven in co-ordinate directions by a plurality of identical channels, one for each direction. |
