摘要 PURPOSE:To form the automatic focusing device faithful to a user's intention by deciding the focusing direction of a photographic lens by using only the data discrimi nated to be the distance data of the subject in the central part of the image surface of the lens by a discriminating device. CONSTITUTION:The main subject is designated as 19 and other subjects as 20 and the images of the subjects 19, 20 formed on a photoelectric converting element array 8 are designated as 21, 22. And 23 to 28 denote the sets of the respective regions segmented on the array 8. The respective points of 30 to 35 are the distance data by the respective regions 23 to 28. Differences of the distance data are determined between the adjacent sets of the data and another group is constituted of the differences having a specified value or above. The four groups; the group 37 relating to the subject 19, the group 34 relating to the subject 20, and the groups 36, 39 of the infinite and remote subjects, are constituted in this case. The memory, calculation and discrimination of these sets of the data are executed by a microcomputer 10. The distance data 31 to 33 constituting the group 37 measuring the subject 19 of the larger numb of pieces of the data are decided as the distance data of the focused subject. The average value of the data 31 to 33 is compared with the position of the lens 1 and a motor 3 is controlled.
