Optically active or racemic compounds are provided having formula (I), where R2, R3 and R4 are each selected from the group consisting of H and OA with the provision that at least one of R2, R3 and R4 is H, A is H or is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl radicals, for example lower alkyl radicals, optionally substituted with aromatic residues, (a), (b), and (c), R5 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl and aromatic residues X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, -R6, -OH, -OR6, (d), -NH2, and -NHR6, R1 is (e) or a nitrogen containing heterocyclic moiety, R6 is alkyl of C1-C4, R7 is H,-R6,-(CH2)mR8, wherein m=0-4, R8 is phenyl, naphthyl or a heteroaromatic moiety. |
