PURPOSE:To prevent bending of an electron beam and to prevent dislocation between both plates in the stage of welding by making a slender and freely extensible magnetic shielding cover approachable to welding faces between an electron beam generator and the work. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam generator consisting of a shielding cover 5 of a circular shape in sectional shape of which the diameter is smaller the nearer the work 2 between an electron beam 4 and the work 2, and a shaft 7 for driving the extension and contraction of the shielding cover which is held by a bearing 9 sealed with a sealing material 8 and is fitted in such a way as to penetrate through a welding chamber 1. Said cover 5 extends or contracts according to the extension or contraction operation of the shielding cover 5-1 at the leading end. In the stage of welding, the cover 5-1 is brought closer to about 50mm. from the work 2 and the work is welded. By the above-mentioned welding machine, the bending of the electron beam is obviated and the dislocation between both plates during welding is prevented. |
