The process deals with the input voltage (Uin) by means of pulse width modulation followed by filtering so that it is possible to directly adjust an output voltage (Uout) lying within the envelope curve of the input a.c. voltage (Uin). The device for implementing the process includes voltage circuit components connected between the input voltage (Uin) terminals. The output voltage (UOut) is detected between the a.c. voltage circuit components (4, 5) whereby these components are activatable alternately to modulate the pulse width.
