The shuttlecock has a resiliently pliable crown base (3) fitted inside with a light source (10) which is secured in an axial recess (9) of a fixing sleeve (6) provided in the central area of the base. The light source is a plastics tube containing a chemically active chemo-luminescent mass. The fixing sleeve is light-permeable at least in its leading flight direction. A lens (12) is set in front of the light source (10). The lens and fixing unit can be designed at one structural unit made from clear glass plastics. USE/ADVANTAGE - Illuminated shuttlecock allows easier playing in dark conditions.
