A method of extracting iron from a pulp containing compounds of heavy non-ferrous metals provides, first, for treating the pulp with sulphuric lye in the presence of sulphuric acid. Then it is treated with sulphuric acid while being heated with vapour up to a temperature of 80-90 DEG C and while being bubbled with air. The thus treated pulp, together with a neutralizing agent, is dispersed with vapour. The neutralization is effected at a temperature of 115-140 DEG C. The iron-containing sediment obtained is then separated.
