Vehicular electropneumatic brake control valve with relay function - uses two magnetic valves controlling pressure above relay piston which establishes connections to compressor and extractor

The magnetic valves (5, 7) are integrated into the moulded plastic cover (9) of a conventional relay valve (3) having four connections to e.g. a brake valve (37), an air extractor (39), an air compressor (41) and brake cylinders (43). With both coils (23) de-energised, compressed air flows through a duct (51) linking the valves (5, 7) to a space (53) branched (55) into the relay piston chamber (31). Energisation of one valve (5) closes this space (53), and of the other (7) makes a connection from the brake cylinders (43) to the extractor (39). ADVANTAGE - Valve can be mfd. cheaply and implemented in form of replaceable module.
