PURPOSE:To prevent a busy shift from occurring by prohibiting an up shift while an engine output demand quantity is larger than a shift allowable value which is smaller by a predetermined quantity set previously, even if the engine output demand quantity has decreased after a down shift. CONSTITUTION:After a shift range sensor 42 has detected a free down shift from a 1st to a 2nd speed change step at a planetary gear type speed change mechanism 12, a speed change controller 14 prohibits an up shift to the 1st speed change step while an engine output demand quantity is larger than a shift allowable value which is smaller by a predetermined quantity set previous ly, then the engine output demand quantity at the time of the down shift, even if the engine output demand quantity which is detected by means of a throttle opening sensor 40, decreases. Thus, the up shift or the busy shift against the will of an operator can be prevented from occurring. |
