The coupling or thrust-piece consists of balls (20) in holes (19) in a flange (18). The balls (20) are pressed by means of a sloping surface (23) on a pressure-ring (22) against the main shaft (15) to which it is being joined. The pressure-ring (22) is moved axially and joined to the flange (18) with holes (19) in, by means of screws (24) or other fixtures. The balls (20) are harder than the main shaft (15) so that they press into the main shaft (15). The dia. of the holes (20) is slightly larger than part (21) of the flange (18). USE/ADVANTAGE - The coupling can be used with thin-walled hollow shafts for securing coaxial shafts to a main shaft so that they do not move axially.
