Wing-shaped gliding parachute of flexible material - has smoothing webs extending from nose region to profile rear edge

The gliding parachute (1) is made from flexible material which, when inflated, forms a load-bearing wing with an aerofoil cross-section. The parachute has openings (9) in its leading edge so that ram air flows in to inflate it to its required shape. The leading part of the parachute is provided with an outer cover (4) to form a smooth external surface. The outer cover has openings (6) to equalise the pressure on its both sides. Pref. the cover web length is shorter than the top chamber web underneath. ADVANTAGE - Improved efficiency by top side smoothing.
