<p>A percutaneous catheter (10) with encapsulating receptacle (19) comprises a first catheter (11) having a proximal and distal end (12, 13), several struts (18) attached to the distal end (13) of the first catheter (11) and extending distally therefrom in a cup-shaped form, a second, inner catheter (14) received within the first (11), and a pocket-shaped sheath (19) received between the several struts (18) and opening in the distal direction, the sheath (19) having a proximal portion (20) secured to the distal end (16) of the second, inner catheter (14), and a distal portion (21) secured to the distal ends of the several struts (18), whereby rotation of the first catheter (11), relative the second catheter (14), twists and closes the distal end (21) of the sheath (19). A third, outer catheter (17) is also disclosed within which the first and second catheters (11, 14), and associated struts (18) and sheath (19), are receivable. Also disclosed is a method for positioning the catheter (10) adjacent an object, or receiving the object within the sheath (19) and enclosing the sheath (19) about the object to facilitate treatment of the object.</p> |
