The article comprises means to engage the humeral or tibial component of a shoulder or knee joint prosthesis and means adapted to accommodate at least part of the head of the humeral or tibial component, at least part of the said accommodating means being adapted to allow, in use in a joint, the ingrowth of soft tissue from around the joint.
