Cable lead insertion gland for electrical appts. - uses moulded element attached to cable acting on seal for edge of cable insertion opening

The insertion gland has a seal (20) fitted around the edge of the cable lead opening provided in the appts. housing (2) and used to seal the leakage path between the cable lead (16) and the appts. housing (2). The seal (20) is pressed against the edge of the narrow inner section (6) of the opening via a moulded element (18) fitted around the outside of the cable lead (16) which is accommodated within the wider outer section (8) of this opening. The moulded element (18) cooperates with a fixing element (26, 28), e.g. a spring-loaded disc, attached to the appts. housing (2) to exert pressure on the seal (20). ADVANTAGE - Prevents damage to seal during assembly.
