The protective document file is made from two transparent foils (10, 11), which are welded to each other along two opposite edges (17) to form two pockets (11, 12), formed on opposite sides of a fold (14) in the upper foil (11). The lower foil (10) is folded along three parallel lines to form an attachment strip (15). This attachment strip has holes for fitting in a file. A document can be inserted into either pocket through its open edge, or one large document can be inserted, which extends from one pocket to the other.
