Controlling divisible bottle crates - directing laser beam to conveyor belt and using processor to if parts are correctly assembled

The bottle crates are assembled from two parts (11,12) with a division running parallel to an outer wall. A locking device holds the parts together. On a conveyer belt or similar the division plane extends roughly at right angles to the forwarding direction. The crates sit firmly without slipping on the conveyor and are spaced to pass through a control station assigned to the conveyor. In the region of the control station the crates are tested contactlessly on both sides. The test result is entered into a processor for comparison with a previously entered stipulated value representing a perfectly assembled crate. A deviation is signalled. An examination for foreign bodies, bottle height, contour and/or colour can be arried out at the same time. USE/ADVANTAGE: Automatic and non-contacting testing for quality control and for returns.
