PURPOSE:To sinter an oxide superconductor powder at a relatively low temp. and to obtain the oxide superconductor having high critical current density, etc., and stabilized superconductivity by adding a specified amt. of the powder of silver or a silver compd. having specified particle diameter to the superconductor powder and then sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The powder of silver or a silver compd. (e.g. silver lactate and silver acetate) having 0.07-4mum particle diameter is added by 4-33wt.% based on the total weight to the oxide superconductor powder (e.g. Y-Ba-Cu- O-based superconductor powder), and the mixture is sintered to obtain an oxide superconductor. As a result, sintering can be carried out at a relatively low sintering temp. of about 840-890 deg.C, and consequently the selection of a sintering vessel is facilitated. In addition, since the particle diameter of the silver powder is controlled to 0.07-4mum, an oxide superconductor having >=200A/cm<2> critical current density is obtained, and further a proximity effect by the metallic silver developed around the oxide superconductor particles can be expected. |
