Flexible connection between free-standing base and rotatable object - uses flexible line rotated at half angular rotation of rotatable element

The flexible connection is provided by a flexible line (3) which is attached to the base (1) and the rotatable object (2) at its opposite ends. The flexible line (3) is passed around the edge of the rotatable object (2), so that it can be attached to it on the opposite side to that which faces the base (1) and is supported to allow it to track the movement of the rotatable object (2) at half the angular velocity of the latter, via an associated drive. Pref. the flexible line (3) is attached to the base at a point which coincides with the intersection point for the extension of the rotational axis. USE: For gyro compass.
