The rotor (1) has at least one pair of magnetic poles (P,P'), exhibiting a layer structure transverse to the radial plane of the rotor with layers (3,4) of a magnetisable and a non-magnetisable material in alternation between two opposing poles (P,P'). The stator has a series of stator windings (Wa,Wb,Wc) corresponding to the stator of a three-phase motor for providing a magnetic field enclosing the rotor. Pref. the magnetisable layers (3) are made of a foil or sheet material, or by adjacent wire sections, the alternating non-magnetisable layers (4) pref. comprising a partially electrically conductive material, e.g. Al. ADVANTAGE - Provides max. output torque.
