The device for coil wires (1) has a pair of cooperating cutters (5, 6) with their opposing cutting edges (15) positioned adjacent the outlet for the coil wire from a cylindrical wire feed. The cutters (5, 6) are provided as longitudinally symmetrical lever jaws (4) displaced parallel to the longitudinal axis of the wire feed. The movement of the cutters (5, 6) is controlled in conjunction with the wire feed using a common rotation element within a press cylinder. Pref. rotation element comprises a telescopic piston rod (7) and a press piston, each cutter (5, 6) being hinged to the telescopic piston rod (7). ADVANTAGE - Suitable for wire dia. of up to 2.5 mm.
