The seat belt lock has an insert frame for the push-in tongue. A control mechanism which when the tongue is inserted brings the locking bolt from the opened to the closed position where the bolt projects into a holder opening, has at least one locking spring (3) which is mounted on the insert frame (1) and supplies the locking torque which turns the locking bolt (2) into its closed position. The control mechanism also has a locking element (7) which is brought by the ejector spring (4) into an unlocking position in which the bolt (2) is held in the opened position by the locking element (7). The locking element can be removed from the unlocking position by shear force acting from outside as the tongue (6) is pushed into the insert path (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - Seat belt lock for vehicle. A reduced number of parts is used so that the bolt lock housing can be comparatively flat.
