PURPOSE:To obtain a cell capable of long use by interposing a solid electrolyte between a semiconductor in which its surface is covered with a doped long-chain alkylthiophene polymer solution, then a polymer thin film is formed by evaporating a solvent and a transparent electrode. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a semiconductor as it is or after covered with a noble metal thin film is covered with a doped long-chain alkylthiophene polymer solution, then a polymer thin film is formed thereon by evaporating a solvent. A solid electrolyte is interposed between this semiconductor and a transparent electrode. The long-chain alkylthiophene polymer is obtained by polymerizing a thiophene compound having an alkyl substituting group with six or more carbon atoms by electrolytical polymerization or a chemical process, and it is soluble in a solvent. The polymer thin film having uniform conductivity is obtained. A photo-electrochemical cell fabricated with this covered semiconductor, the solid electrolyte, and the transparent electrode can keep stable performance for a long time by protecting effect of the thin film. |
