The reciprocating IC engine has a torsional vibration damper at the forward end of the crankshaft, opposite the flywheel mounting. The damper is elastically coupled to the crankshaft journal via a torsion bar concentrically enclosed by a hollow shaft. At the forward crankshaft end there is an intermediate flanged body (18) forming a power take-off, while the hollow shaft (13) has a flange (14) at its end containing holes (17).
