A time-of-flight mass spectrometer comprises an ion source (2) consisting of a grid assembly, a drift space (3) with a focusing system (4), a reflector (5) and a detector (6). The grid assembly has the shape of a ring with the internal diameter equal to that of the detector (6), whereas the focusing system (4) consists of two cylinders (15, 16) coaxially mounted in the drift space (3) whose diameters are equal, respectively, to the internal and the external diameter of the grid assembly of the ion source (2). The time-of-flight mass spectrometer is intended mainly for studying the mass composition of an inert gas, of a low-energy ion flux as well as of a plasma in a vacuum. |
