PURPOSE:To enhance the water resistance and plasticizer resistance of a record ing image while eliminating scumming by providing a protective layer containing at least one of magnesium, calcium and aluminum acetates or formates to a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A protective layer containing at least one of magnesium, calcium and aluminum acetates or formates and a binder is provided on a thermal recording layer containing a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a coupler capable of forming a color through the contact with said dye. As the binder used in the protective layer, polyvinyl alcohols are pref. and excellent acting effect is developed by combining said binder with the metal salt. By this method, the curing of the binder is markedly accelerated without being accompanied by the lowering of whiteness and, as a result, the stability, especially, water resistance or plasticizer resistance of a recording image is enhanced while excellent printability is kept. |
