<p>The invention pertains to a grip for hand held implements, and to a method of fabricating and installing the grip. The invention provides a grip (10) that is comprised of a thin wall stretchable tubular member (11). An outwardly flaring generally cup-shaped flange (20) is formed integral with the tubular member (11) at an open end (21) of the tubular member (11). The flange (20) has a maximum radial dimension (22) relative to the longitudinal axis (23) of the tubular member (11), which is at least twice the minimum radial dimension (24) of the tubular member (11). The flange (20) is sized and configured so that its outer periphery is provided with a stable cuff (25). The stable cuff (25) is stretched over a collar (26) on a vacuum chamber (27), then the tubular member (11) is stretched upon exposure to a vacuum, and then a handle (13) is inserted into the tubular member (11).</p> |
