TORQUE-LOADED DOOR FOR A PISTON COMPACTOR

A hinged, torque-loaded door for a piston compactor, this door including a door blade fixed to a torsion bar which is able to rotate about an axle which is journalled within the confines of the ejector plate of the compactor so as to cover its waste ejection opening. The torsion bar contains elastomeric pads which enable the door blade to overcome its inherent lack of resistance against the compactor's piston. The door also acts as a ''one-way valve'' preventing reverse flow of waste during ejection.
