The device for making vegetable matter, especially stalks, into briquettes includes a taper worm compressor (27), the rotatably drivable worm (29) of which has, at least at its forward end in the conveying direction, an outer profile determined by several turns of at least one worm drive (51) projecting from a conical worm core (49) and tapering in the conveying direction, and projects into a conical compression chamber (33) of a worm drive casing (35). From the internal conical surface (55) of the conical chamber (33) there are ribs (53) projecting downwards towards the worm (29) which surround the worm (29) in the form of a tapering thread wound in the opposite direction to that of the worm (29). The taper-thread-shaped rib (53) preferably extends as far as an outlet aperture (41) and conveys the at least rotating stalks compressed with the worm (29) to the outlet (41). The device includes a press-matrix (45) whose outlet cross-section may be altered by means of a dog drive (73, 79, 81). Between the press-matrix (45) and the taper worm compressor (27) is inserted an annular component (43) with a plurality of capillary gas evacuation slots (63) open to the environment on its inner periphery (57). |
