PURPOSE:To allow the logical operation of the input and output signals of only the light by using one or more light sources as an operating energy source and mounting an optical switch constituted of a liquid crystal and solar battery, etc., at the intermediate point of an optical transmission line. CONSTITUTION:One or more light sources are used as the operating energy source and the crystal 3 is placed between the light sources and the output optical transmission line 1. The solar battery 5 is placed at the terminal of the input optical transmission line 4. The optical logical element constituted in such a manner generates a voltage in the solar battery 5 by the input light signal 4 and operates the liquid crystal 3 between the light sources and the output optical transmission line 1 by this voltage to obtain the output optical signal in the output optical transmission line 1. The logical operation is executed by the optical signal alone in this way. |
