<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the processing time required for linear conversion by applying the operation of linear conversion and quantization consecutively and applying discrimination whether or not a succeeding conversion coefficient is to be obtained based on the number of quantization coefficients of consecutive 0s. CONSTITUTION:The conversion coding system is providing with a linear conversion circuit 11, a quantizer 5, a counter 12 and a discrimination circuit 13 or the like and linear conversion and quantization are combined in a given sequence to an input signal block, the number of quantization coefficients of consecutive 0s is counted and when the count exceeds a given threshold level, no linear conversion is implemented and remaining quantized outputs are all made zero. Thus, the processing time required to obtain the conversion coefficient is drastically reduced without deteriorating the picture quality of a decoded picture.</p> |
