PRODUCTION OF FLUORINATED NITRO-OR CYANO-BENZENE

PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject compound useful as intermediate of medical or agricultural chemicals, etc., by reacting chlorinated nitro- or cyano-benzene having Cl in o-position and/or p-position with potassium fluoride in a cyanopyridine solvent. CONSTITUTION:Fluorinating reaction of chlorinated nitro- or cyano-benzene having at least one chlorine atom in o-position and/or p-position with potassium fluoride is performed in a cyanopyridine as the reacting solvent to afford fluorinated nitro- or cyano-benzene. This method is industrially advantageous as the desired fluorinating reaction is desirably developed and the objected substance can readily be separated from reaction products.
